How to fillet a Sickle Pomfret or Monchong fish.

A sickle pomfret or Monchong fish as they call them in Hawaii is a deep water fish that swims in 500 to 1500 feet of water. The scientific name Taractichthys steindachneri but even on the Wiki page there isn’t much information about them.

We caught this one while swordfishing with Captain Nick Stanczyk in 1500 feet of water out of Islamorada.

Here Nick shows us how he fillets one of these deepwater fish.
