The world’s largest salt water fly fishing tournament; The Salty Fly 2013 has official started yesterday. This means we have locked on the location, finish the sponsorship proposal and sending them out.
First dibs till be sponsors that support us last year. We am happy to say that Hellsbay boatworks is again our title sponsors along with 90% of the sponsors we’ve contacted so far. Once it was announced on facebook yesterday I immediately got messages from new sponsors wanting to come aboard. This is a great sign of things to come.
Not only are we getting great sponsorship support, the people wanting to fish and attend the event was over the top as well. People are excited about this event. Excitement is a great thing to have for an event that is almost four months out.
Last year’s event sold out of 65 two man teams with 20 more teams on the waiting list in 9 hours of opening to the public. Teams that fished it last year will get first dibs and we are planning to open the roster for more teams this year as we now have more space after inking the deal at Little Harbor Resort.
- Some quick numbers from the 3 day event back in Feb. 2012.
- Friday Party/Film showing we had over 100 people join the fun
- Saturday Tournament we had well over 150 people at the weight in. So much so we hard parking issues; which is a great problem to have.
- Sunday the G.Loomis/Hellsbay Poling and Cast skills contest. We had 20 teams participate and over 100 people watching the inaugural time trials.
