This morning I was on the water at 6:30 paddling my SUP to get some exercise. I had to bring a spinning rod with me just in case. With the slack tide at first light I knew it wasn’t going to be great fishing but I did work the top water and hand some bites.
There were plenty of bait on the flats but very little feeding activity. I had 4 eats and landed 2 fish. One little jack and one little tiny snook.
With real life stuff to deal with like picking up the truck from the shop getting alignment etc I had to call it a day around 8:30am.
The most interesting part of the day was being yelled at by the mullet fishing. He said I was ruining his fishing by paddling my SUP too close spooking his mullet. I was 150 ft away from him but I guess that was too close. I find it both ironic and funny because it usually them that buzzing around in the flats ruining the fishing.
Oh well, I apologized and moved on. It wasn’t a big deal, just a bit humorous.
On a brighter note, I got to test the new Lamiglas Black Salt spinning rod that is new for 2013.
Here’s a photo of the little guy caught on the MirroLure She Pup.
