Tampa Bay Grouper Trolling with Lauren and Tom.
11.14.2010
I got out with Tom of Wanganchor and Lauren today today to do some grouper trolling. Yes, Lauren took the day off work to go fishing with us today..yaaaay. We trolled lipped Rapala lures at about 5knots bumping near the bottom of shipping channels. We had 6 bites that resulted in a one fish that was a keeper. The rest were shorts or the lowly toad fish.
We were done by 1030am as everyone had things to do today.
Photo note: awesome lighting today. Blue skies, lots of colors. I forgot to set my D300s back to shooting raw after the time lapse I did for the mountain bike so all these were shot in jpg.

NativeBikeworks.com photos

Along with shooting some video yesterday I did get chance to snap a couple of photos off. I have been working with a new local bicycle company called Native Bikes and Parts in Brandon, Florida. They work on road and mountain bikes. They are on US301 just south of Bloomingdale. Cool guys, I know them from back when I was not as heavy and actually rode mountain bikes. I might actually start up again after seeing all the cool new trails they build since I’ve been gone.
Besides photos and video I got them to get the domain Nativebikeworks.com. It’s a way cooler sounding and easier for people to remember.
Here are some photos I had a chance to shoot before I broke out the video camera… which was all of about 20 shots. I just can not figure a way to do both well at the same time.
I want to give a shout out to Chase Handcock (designer for Skinnywater Culture) for being super reliable and designing a cool logo for them in a hurry.
Photo notes: Both of these types of shots were made shooting into the sun. If you want to silhouette look like the first photo, all you need to do is meter your camera for the sun. If you want the smoky back lit look like the action shots just simply meter your camera for the rider. This will give let the background get that blown out misty morning fog look.

2010 Alafia Fat tire mountain bike festival, Fillipino birthday party, more NEX-VG10 footage
11.14.2010
Saturday I spent the day filming shots at the 2011 Alafia Fat Tire Festival held not too from my house. It was a good chance to put the NEX-VG10 to the test and check out the mountain bike scene. Here is what I put together so far for the video.

That night I got a call from Joe of Carbonmarine, he tells me to come over for a Fillipino party. I was kind of exhausted because I had been out all day shooting video of the MTB festival but once he started to send me phone photos of the different types of food they had over at the part I made the 45minute drive over to join the fun.
I was glad I did, not only did I get to try some new and interesting food, it gave me the chance to test more of the camera’s capabilities in low light. Bellow is the footage I took all at +27db in gain(kinda like iso in cameras) using the cheat $100 50mm 1.8f lens. It’s all hand held footage and manual exposure and focus. I put the clip together this morning around 5 am in the morning. It took me about an hour.
