A good friend of mine served 2 terms in Iraq, finished his degree at Emery Riddle and just now returned to his place of Residence…SW Florida! He is a great person who just loves the outdoors and values his time on the water when given the chance. Last Thursday I needed to pull the boat off the lift and do some regular work on her and he was up to help me out so in turn I took him fishing for a couple of hours. Fishing was slow for the most part but we caught some fish and that was all Steve needed, a little tug on the end of his line. We started fishing a big school of big black drum and I managed to get one around 30-40lbs boat side but believe it or not these fish are harder to catch than redfish when in shallow water……we left and went to look for some snook and reds to play with but only were able to get a few small snook, one big trout and a decent size Jack that made Steve’s day! The phrase of the day was….”S Florida is ******* Great, mid October and were on a boat with shorts on!” We had fun!!!
Embracing the “Magic Hour”
With big Jacks around I grabbed the fly rod – surprisingly, Steve took control of the camera to get the capture…. there was a finger print on the lens which made most photos not fixable….live and learn!
