We are only so fortunate to be surrounded by such great waters to fish. With such a variety of fishing to be had, possibilities are sure to be limitless. The great thing about living in South Florida is that you are at the center of all the best fishing destinations. People travel from all over the world to partake in this magnificent fishery we have here. I'm fortunate enough to be able to travel by car within a morning's time to get to most of my favorite fishing destinations. Between my horrible schedule I’ve had lately, I was able to put in 2 days of fishing this past weekend.
Capt. Jeff Legutki (

www.worldangling.com) and I took to Chokoloskee this past Friday to sightfish in the skinny stuff. Between all the bait, explosions, pops, and "oh @#R$ there he is" shots, we had a great time chucking flies at redfish and snook. This type of fishing is truly dependent on visibility. Whenever the light was out, we caught some fish, whenever the light was gone, we blew out some fish. Sight fishing snook in Choko is absolutely amazing...and will only get better as the cooler weather approaches.

I decided to hook up the skiff and head down to the Keys the following day. Originally, the plans were to bonefish in Islamorada but after seeing the possibility of lots of stormy clouds headed that way, Capt. Frank, Ross, and I decided to keep driving SW. Eventually, we ended up at Garrison Bight Marina in Key West. We had good light in the AM and started off with a few bonefish shots where reluctant fish would only chase and bounce off the boat at 100mph. We switched gears and permit fished but the cloudy weather had finally caught up with us and we had light coming in and out. We managed to salvage most of our close up permit shots and catch a couple fish chucking the meat and potatoes setup. After hearing back from Islamorada about all the crappy wet weather they had, I guess the long drive to Cayo Hueso was worth it after all.

Stay tuned... more good stuff to come as the weather cools...
On another note... what a sucky weekend for Miami football fans!!!!!
